For more than 65 years, Elite Preloved has been part of Manchester’s fashion landscape. Built across four generations, our history is defined by craftsmanship, community and a deep respect for clothing that stands the test of time.
What began as a small family boutique has grown into a trusted destination for preloved designer fashion, known for its heritage, expertise and enduring style.
OUR HERITAGE
Founded in 1957 by Beth Makin, the business opened its doors as The White Elephant in Sale, Manchester. It quickly earned a reputation for its discerning eye and personal service.
In 1964, the business became The Elite Dress Agency, relocating to Altrincham, where it cemented its place in the region’s fashion culture. Over the following decades, the family expanded into Manchester and Bolton, building a loyal client base and a respected name within the luxury resale community.
Under the leadership of Nicola Makin (Topham), Elite continued to evolve while staying true to its roots. Her dedication to authenticity, quality and service remains at the heart of the business today.
A CONTINUING LEGACY
Elite Preloved is now proudly based in Altrincham, where our single store carries forward the heritage established more than six decades ago. Nicola remains actively involved as Director and Owner, ensuring the family’s legacy continues to shape everything we do.
